I accidentally broke the copper wire to have water to the fridge, so alas Hiro had to go under the house again. He couldn't find his ski goggles, so he had to wear his beer goggle's instead...

The great water debacle
To sum up the last four days...
Day 1: Sprinkler valve broke, had to shut off the water.
Day 2: Water wouldn't turn back on.
Plumber showed up (under warranty) to fix the water, but tried to scam us into paying more, then left.
Day 3: New Plumber shows up and we finally have water (Hallelujah!) Then, another sprinkler valve broke.
Day 4: Plumber returns to fix the sprinkler. Another plumber comes to fix the sink (the original problem)
I think "replacing the pipes" has just been moved much higher in priority in the repairs we need to have done. That, and I've learned that PVC sprinkler systems are absolute $%^*!

Uh oh.
Apparently not only does the main shutoff not shut off all the way, it also doesn't turn back on. Whoops.
(Luckily Hiro still has the keys to his house, so we can shower over there til a plumber arrives. Thank goodness for our home warranty!)

No water.
Unfortunately, one of the side affects of having 50 year old pipes is that the main house water shut off valve doesn't shut all the way. I had a little sprinkler incident which involved having to shut off the water to replace a valve, except the pipe kept leaking... and leaking... and leaking. After a couple hours (and a few trips to Home Depot) we finally called a plumber. Luckily, being 8 pm on a Sunday night he didn't really want to come out, so he just explained how to shut off the main water pipe from the street.
In the meantime, we had invited our friends Frank and Jess over for a BBQ, which also turned into a PVC gluing extravaganza. The pipes are in place and hopefully in the morning our leaks will be no more!
